This AR/VR training program equips teachers with the knowledge and tools to integrate immersive technology into Science and Math classrooms. Through hands-on activities using mobile apps, Merge Cubes, and VR headsets, educators will explore engaging ways to visualize complex concepts and create interactive learning experiences.
Prerequisites for Teachers
- Devices: Wi-Fi enabled Laptop (considered mostly) or smartphones (Android/iOS) otherwise
- Apps Installation: AR/VR apps installations and accessories as suggested during program
- Accessories: Merge Cubes (ready-made or DIY), VR Headsets (Google Cardboard or DIY), AR markers (if required).
- Space Requirement: Well-ventilated rooms with at least 3×3 meters of open space for VR movement.
Program Breakdown
Module 1: Introduction to AR/VR in Education (1 Hour)
- Evolution: From early AR/VR to modern-day educational applications
- Use Cases in Science & Maths
- Demonstration of basic AR & VR scenarios (drawing in AR, scanning dollar bills, etc.)
Module 2: Getting Technically Ready (1 Hour)
- Device compatibility & setup
- Screen mirroring from mobile to laptop
- Installing and navigating key AR/VR apps
- Safe handling of mobile AR/VR in classrooms
Module 3: AR for Math Concepts (1.5 Hours)
- Activities:
- Visualizing geometric transformations (Rotations, Reflections, Slopes)
- 3D understanding of Pythagoras Theorem, Cross-sections
- Exploring Parallel & Skew Lines in AR
- Visualizing geometric transformations (Rotations, Reflections, Slopes)
Module 4: AR for Science Exploration (1.5 Hours)
- Activities:
- Merge Cube: Exploring anatomy, geology, earth science via Merge EDU apps
- HoloGlobe: Real-time climate, weather, satellite data
- Object Viewer: Students access models and answer quiz questions

Module 5: Global Virtual Tours (1 Hour)
- Visit New York via VR (360° experience)
- Moon Mission: Rocket launch, suit up and spacewalk
- Mars Exploration: Walk on Martian terrain, learn about its features
Module 6: History & Social Science via AR (1 Hour)
- Scan US Dollar bills to discover 100 historic women (Helen Keller, etc.)
- View historical artefacts in AR: Zeus, Mars, Egyptian Mummy
- Graphic Novel AR: Experience the journey of the first US woman astronaut
Module 7: Creative & Gamified AR (1.5 Hours)
- Create AR drawings & share via video
- AR Puzzle Room: Solve the mystery in a 3x3m VR environment
- AR Survival Game on Merge Cube: Gamification in learning
Module 8: DIY Merge Cubes & VR Headsets (0.5 Hour)
- Hands-on workshop to make Merge Cubes and Google Cardboard
- Tips on how students can create their own at home
